Darío Sala

Darío Sala is Director of Soccer Operations. His focus is on the South American market where he is very well connected, having spent time there both as a player and a coach. Most notably, Sala was part of Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s coaching staff with the Argentina national team prior to joining him at Atlanta United where he helped take the team to an MLS championship in their second year of existence.

Sala has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in sports. Previously, he was Co-Founder and former General Manager of the Sunshine Soccer Group. He also co-founded Armada FC and managed the club for two years.

Darío is an accomplished former professional soccer player whose career spanned 18 years in five countries. He was named Most Valuable Player in Argentina’s professional league, and has participated in more than 30 international matches and 500 official games. He started his career when he landed a contract after attending a tryout that consisted of 1,000 other players. After playing in some of the most competitive soccer leagues on the planet – Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Colombia – he ended his career playing 5 years in MLS for FC Dallas.

Now, He enjoys fulfilling a mission, which is to “promote soccer at all levels”. Aside from his professional work, Mr. Sala also runs mentoring programs and volunteers regularly. While in Dallas, he was a recipient of the Dallas Hometown Hero Award for his efforts to engage the community through sports. He attributes his continuing success to his persistence and competitive spirit.
